Frequently Asked Questions

How does a commercial loan work?

A commercial loan is provided to a business or sole trader looking to take out a loan to purchase business equipment or pay business related expenses. Commercial loans are typically only available to individuals or business with a valid, registered Australian Business Number (ABN). As the borrower, you will receive the funds as an upfront, lump sum payment. From there, you will pay back the loan at the terms dictated by the loan.

Are commercial loan interest rates higher than personal loan interest rates?

It depends on the loan, however, yes – in most cases a commercial interest rate works out to be higher than a personal interest rate. Loan interest rates are calculated against risk – and, as a rule of thumb, commercial loans carry a higher level of risk and therefore a higher level of interest is payable on the loan. Other factors such as asset security (i.e. borrowing against a piece of equipment on a secured loan term) may also impact interest rate.
